At Borders or Barnes & Noble, I often browse the computer books to see the different ways writers approach help material — especially how they approach the same help material. The other day I wanted a book on CSS, so I pulled four available CSS books off the shelf and began browsing them. Each book looked respectable, but the CSS Cookbook, by Christopher Schmitt, had a unique format that caught my attention and convinced me to buy it. The good news: Anaheim did have the desired positive affect, I think…once I recover from the conference. Which always takes a day or three. I probably won’t post a lot about the conference itself. (Relatively poorly-attended, probably because of travel costs, and I think that’s the future; actually reasonably convenient; the program I spoke at was up against 36 or 37 other programs at the same time…), but did have a couple of odd notes relating to the Hilton, which is undergoing renovation:

Google is offering a new tool, Google Ad Planner, to help media buyers decide where to place online ads. The tool to reach target audiences is free and caused the stock of market researcher comScore to drop. While Ad Planner and Google's Trends for Web Sites provide information on competitors, they don't reveal information on Google itself.
